1. Brief Introduction

Ultrafiltration (UF) is a type of membrane filtration in which hydrostatic pressure forces a liquid against a semipermeable membrane. A semipermeable membrane is a thin layer of material capable of separating substances when a driving force is applied across the membrane. Once considered a viable technology only for desalination, membrane processes are increasingly employed for removal of bacteria and other microorganisms, particulate material, and natural organic material, which can impart color, tastes, and odors to the water and react with disinfectants to form disinfection byproducts (DBP). As advancements are made in membrane production and module design, capital and operating costs continue to decline.

Ultrafiltration (UF) systems have diverse membrane filtration where hydrostatic pressure pushes solvents against a very fine membrane. They block suspended particulates and solids that are large while water and solutes with a lower molecular weight are allowed to flow through the membrane.

Industry and research employ this separation process for purifying and concentrating macromolecular (103 - 106 Da) solutions, which are usually protein solutions. Ultrafiltration is similar to microfiltration, nanofiltration or gas separation, except it differs in the molecule sizes it blocks.

To meet critical discharge criteria, ultrafiltration systems remove the need for clarifiers and multi-media filters. Effective ultrafiltration systems use membranes that can be immersed, back-flushable, and air scoured. Spiral wound UF/MF membranes offer excellent performance for the clarification of process water and waste water.

 

2. Description of ultrafiltration modules

2.1 Module Features

Our Ultrafiltration modules are made of high strength hollow fiber membranes, they are made of Polyvinylidene Fluoride(PVDF). The pore size of 0.03 µm is enough for the removal of bacteria, viruses, and particles including all kinds of colloids. v

The membranes have been special treated to be hydrophilic. It is easy cleaning and wettability that help maintain long term performance. v Out to In flow configuration can endure high tolerance of feed solids. They also can be used pressed air to help the cleaning recovery.

The dead-end filtration way offer higher recovery rate and energy savings. The largest water recovering rate can be more can 95%.
